Poker Winner Nets £4 Million

Andrew Felman, aged 21, who hails from Watford has cleared over £4,000,000 in under three years playing poker. His story makes interesting reading. He was originally attracted to on-line poker by his brother. At the time his only earnings were £25 a week from a paper round, and he blew one weeks wages on his first few internet games played at an online casino. He soon learned how to play better and started to turn those early losses into wins. The wins increased until he was making about £5,000 a day. Whilst he was doing this he was at the same time studying for his A levels which he passed with pretty spectacular results. Rather than take up a place to read Economics at University he decided to devote his time to poker and became a full time player. He soon became a serious tournament player and gained several good results including winning the 888 Poker Open Tournament.

He made a TV appearance on Poker Den. In this match twenty one players each $10,000 and played endurance poker for thirty six hours. The tournament was televised and broadcast by Chanel 5. In it he made $63,350 coming second behind Robert Williamson who netted $63,675.

Andrew has some interesting observations regarding the abilities of UK poker players compared with their counterparts in the USA. He considers the American players to be much stronger overall. He believes that the reason is television exposure. Whilst poker coverage in the USA is broadcast during prime time, it is rarely shown in the UK, and when it is it is mostly at inconvenient times.

His guidelines for winning at poker are to only play people you have a high probability of beating and to always exercise patience. He always tries to play with his head rather than his heart. Interestingly he prefers online poker to live as he prefers the fast pace of the online version.

Don’t Leave the House - Play Poker

Online poker is one of the most convenient and easiest ways to play poker without having to leave one’s house. The first online poker room was established in 1998. It was named Planet Poker. Gradually, many other poker rooms followed and now the popularity of online poker has reached its peak.

Online poker game differs from conventional poker in various ways. A fresher can learn the game from the tutorials provided by the web. Online sites can help the beginner to become an adept in the field. Software packages can be downloaded so that one can play at any time and improve his skills. Online poker games provide rooms that give money for the poker players to practise in an environment with no fear of losing money.

Convenience is perhaps the greatest advantage of online poker. One has instant access to online poker and he can play at any time of the day or night 365 days a year. Poker rooms are never closed. He gets a huge selection of games to choose from, unlike a casino where there are a limited number of tables and one has to wait for his turn to play. In online poker, players have options as to which betting limits they would like to utilise in order to fit their budgets and skill levels.

Thus the levels of customisation and flexibility in online poker far exceed that of real-life poker. The speed of the game is much faster online and players enjoy the speed. The deals are quick and there is no possibility of an error. One has the option of playing at more than one table at a time. Thus he engages in more action and has a greater chance of winning. He does not have to pay any tips. It doesn’t cost him any extra money in travelling!
